Exciting News!

Harrison applied for an internship through his job at Expeditors called "Student of the Industry" and was accepted!  He had to do a presentation in front of all the managers at the Salt Lake office. He was nervous to do the presentation, but we feel happy and excited about this opportunity.  It is a year-long program that will start in January of next year.  This will basically just help him get more experience with the company and get to know all the managers better, as he will be learning all aspects of the business.  It is a good opportunity for growth and future promotions.  I am so proud of him and all his hard work!  He is so talented!!

Halloween

We had a lot of fun for Halloween.  Harrison and I carved pumpkins twice (once just with our family for Family Night, and again with Harrison's family) and made caramel apples.  On Halloween night we all got dressed up and answered the door for Trick-Or-Treaters. Harrison and I dressed up as farmers and we dressed Alexa up as our little pig.  She snorts when she cries, hence the pig costume ;).  She looked so stinkin' cute in it!  We didn't go Trick-Or-Treating ourselves this year because Alexa is still too little for the candy...we would have just eaten it ourselves :).  It was fun to celebrate all the festivities!  Here are some pictures of Halloween night:

She is just the cutest little pig I have ever seen!!  (Can you tell we are biased?? ;) ).

She is so big!... Alexa at 3 1/2 months

Ten days ago (I am trying to get caught up with this;) ) Alexa rolled over from her stomach to her back for the first time!  She rolled over about 7 times in a row. She has also done it again a few times since this. She is only 3 months old (Almost 3 1/2 now).  She can also roll from her back to her side.  It won't be long until she can roll all the way from her back to her stomach.  She's got lots of strong muscles for her skinny little body! :)
Here is a video of her rolling over. I also added another video and pictures that were just too cute to resist!:

Uncle Scott and Alexa before the BYU game against Utah.

This picture is so cute to me!
Harrison thinks Alexa is sitting like an old man in this picture :)

Look at those big blue eyes!

She looks good supporting her team ;)

Alexa's Blessing Day

Alexa was officially given a name and blessing on August 28, 2011.  Harrison gave the blessing and he did a wonderful job!  I was able to have someone write down the words of the blessing and I have them in her book, so I will not mention them all here.  But the things he said were truly wonderfully inspired and given with care.  He is a good Daddy! It is so wonderful to know Alexa is sealed to us and will be a part of our family forever!
I was able to get some pictures up of her blessing day so here they are (Sorry, they turned out kind of blurry on here!):

Alexa in her blessing dress.  My great Grandma  Bill (Alexa's great-great Grandma)  made this dress.  It was the same dress I was blessed in.  She also crocheted this blanket.  The name of the pattern is called "Angel"...so fitting!  They are both gorgeous and my grandma is a remarkable woman!!

Alexa Lynne Black- 1 week old

My sister-in-law, Whittney, took these and many more when Alexa was one week old.  Her and Trent came to visit us when she was born.  She does a great job!

The day our daughter was born

The day Alexa Lynne was born was one of the happiest days of my life!  After being induced, and a 17 hour labor, I finally gave birth to a healthy, beautiful, baby girl.  She was born at 4:29 am on Saturday, July 9th.  She had to go to the NICU for an hour due to respiratory problems but everything was okay after that.  Now we are enjoying this new journey of parenthood and Harrison and I couldn't be happier!

Family Update

Well, I started this blog so as to begin a our family album/ newsletter so to speak.  Hope I can stay with it. :)
We gave talks in church on Sunday.  Harrison was asked to speak on "What it means to sustain" and I was asked to speaking on "Preparing for general conference".  It went well and I am relieved that we are done.  Harrison also got a surprise on Sunday.  He was called to be the 2nd Councelor in the Sunday School Presidency.  He is a little nervous but excited to start the calling and to be serving.  I think he will do a great job!
Alexa is still doing great and growing more and more each day!  She is now 11 weeks old.  She is still just tall and skinny!  Maybe she will be a model someday ;)  At her 2 mo. appt. she weighed in at 10 lbs exactly and 23 in. tall.  She has her "dramatic girl" moments, but for the most part is becoming a happy, content baby.  We love her tons and have so much fun with her!
